# Smappen Match: match every address to its area

*Feature available in: **ALL PAID PLANS***

Smappen Match tells you which of your Smappen areas an address falls into. Your website, CRM or internal tool sends an address, and Smappen returns the matching area in real time, so every enquiry reaches the right franchisee, store, sales rep or technician.

Smappen Match is part of the Smappen API. Your map stays the single place where your territories are defined: every area is matched as soon as you draw it, and any change you make is used from the next request.

### What can I use it for?

- Route website enquiries to the right franchisee or store
- Check whether an area is still available before selling it to a new franchisee
- Assign leads or quote requests to the right sales rep
- Dispatch jobs to the right technician or agency

### What you need

- A paid Smappen plan (Smappen Match is not available on the free plan)
- Your areas drawn on a Smappen map
- Someone who can connect the API to your website or CRM: a developer, a no-code tool that can send HTTP requests (such as Make or Zapier), or an AI assistant to help write the connection

### How it works

Each request sends:

- a location: an address, a place name or a zip code (Smappen first converts it into GPS coordinates), or GPS coordinates if you already have them. A zip code is placed at its center point, so send a full address when you need a precise match
- the map ID where your areas are drawn

Smappen returns:

- the area ID
- the area name
- the folder name
- the coordinates of the area's pin
- the straight-line distance between the location and the pin
- how many credits you have left

**If an address falls into several areas**, Smappen returns all of them, with the distance to each area's pin. Your system decides which one to use.

**If an address falls outside all your areas**, Smappen returns an empty result. Smappen Match does not return the nearest area, and the request still uses credits. Your system decides what to do next, for example sending the enquiry to head office.

**If you change an area in Smappen**, the change is used straight away: Smappen Match checks your map as it is at the moment of the request, so a new, moved or renamed area is used from the next request. There is nothing to republish. An area keeps its ID when you rename it.

### Naming your areas and folders

Give your areas and folders names your website or CRM can act on:

- **Area name:** the owner, or a code your CRM already uses. For example "Brooklyn North – J. Martin" or "AG-069-01"
- **Folder:** what you route on. For example "Sold" and "Available", or one folder per region or brand

### Credits and pricing

Smappen Match uses 5 credits.

Every paid plan includes 200 credits per month, enough for about 40 addresses. If you need more, you can add packs of 10,000 credits (about 2,000 addresses):

| 10,000-credit pack | Monthly | Annual, per month | Annual, per year |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| EUR | 100 | 90 | 1,080 |
| USD | 130 | 117 | 1,404 |
| GBP | 90 | 81 | 972 |
| AUD | 170 | 153 | 1,836 |
| CAD | 170 | 153 | 1,836 |

Packs cannot be bought from the customer portal yet. To add credits, contact your Smappen account manager or the team at contact@smappen.com

### Managing your credits

- Unused credits do not roll over: they reset every month. On an annual plan, credits renew every month, not once a year
- If you go over your monthly credits, requests are refused (error 402) until credits are added or renewed.
- A request that finds no area still uses credits; a request that fails on Smappen's side does not
- If you cancel your subscription, your credits stay valid until the end of the subscription, then requests are refused (error 403).

**To check your credit balance:**

- In Smappen: open the Developers tab in your account menu. The Credit usage block shows the credits used out of your total for the current billing period, and the date your credits renew
- In every response: each Smappen Match and geocode request returns what it cost and your remaining balance (headers X-Credits-Cost and X-Credits-Remaining)

### Getting started

- In Smappen, open the Developers tab in your account menu and click Create a key
- Give each key a name that says where it is used (for example "Website form" or "Salesforce"), so you can tell them apart
- Every user on a paid subscription can create a key. There is no limit on the number of keys; all keys on the subscription share the same credits
